CryptoLogic boosts earnings, signs Asian agreement

Gaming software developer Cryptologic reported that it had boosted revenue of $17.5 million and net income of $2.4 million for the third quarter ended September 30.

Swedish government rejects Spel application

The Swedish government has rejected Svenska Spel’s application to expand its online poker services, saying it should devote more time to an internal, ongoing investigation into its existing licence, due in June 2008.

French minister discusses EU online resolution

The French minister for European affairs, Jean-Pierre Jouyet, confirmed he had met with EU internal markets commissioner Charlie McCreevy to discuss resolving the EU’s legal proceedings over France’s online sports betting restrictions. Jouyet continued by saying that he expected a resolution by March.

Bwin’s German ban overturned

Austrian gaming operator Bwin has had a ruling which prohibited it from providing online gambling services to German customers overturned by the Administrative Court of Appeal in Hessen. The presiding judge said that there was a ‘practical impossibility’ enforcing a ban on internet gambling.
